📖 2020-2021: Zidane's pink kit, the making of a future Ballon d'Or contender
For the 2020-2021 season, adidas dared an all-pink away kit for Real Madrid — a total break from the immaculate white that has defined the club since its founding. On the shoulder, the UEFA “13” badge recalls the club's European title record, sealed in 2018 in Kyiv. On the back, a number that would become far more famous a few years later: that of Vinicius Jr.
👑 Vinicius Jr — born in 1999 in São Gonçalo, Brazil, trained at Flamengo before joining Real Madrid in 2018 in a transfer worth around €45 million. During the 2020-2021 season, under Zinedine Zidane, he was still a young winger on the rise, playing his third Spanish season — the Merengues reached the Champions League semi-finals that year. It was only in the following seasons that “Vini” would explode onto the world stage, becoming one of the best players on the planet and a regular Ballon d'Or contender. This pink N°20 shirt is a piece from his formative Madrid years — before the consecration.
