Workshop note — The 10/09 date places production in October 2009, right in Ronaldo's first season. On adidas labels of that era, I check that the three lines are printed in the same grey font and that the reference matches the away model of the season.
Cristiano Ronaldo's number 9
In summer 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United for Real Madrid for a record fee of around 94 million euros. The 2008 Ballon d'Or winner joined a club relaunched by Florentino Pérez, alongside Kaká and Benzema.
The number 7 still belonged to Raúl: Ronaldo therefore wore the 9 in his first season, a detail that makes this printing highly sought after by collectors.
2009-2010: Ronaldo scored 33 goals in all competitions, 26 of them in the Liga, despite an ankle injury that kept him out for several weeks.
Real finished the Liga with 96 points, a club record at the time, but behind Guardiola's FC Barcelona. Ronaldo took the 7 from summer 2010.
When he arrived in 2009, the 7 was worn by Raúl, captain and club legend. Ronaldo therefore played his first season with the 9, before taking the 7 when Raúl left for Schalke in 2010.
Is the sleeve patch original?
Yes, the LFP Liga patch was not added in my workshop: it was already on the shirt.
How can I check the shirt is authentic?
Look up the reference E84339 printed on the inner label: it should lead to the Real Madrid 2009-2010 away shirt. Also look at the crest: on this generation it is embroidered, with a dense and clean crown.
How does this S fit?
A little roomy for an S: 49 cm pit to pit and 73 cm long. It will suit an S who likes some room, or a slim M.
