Read these numbers carefully before ordering. 65 cm is short: early-2000s adidas shirts were cut far shorter than today's. Lay a shirt that fits you well flat, measure it the same way and compare — it's the only reliable guide on a piece from this era.

No flaws, and that's remarkable on a piece over twenty years old. The royal blue is deep and even, with no faded areas at the shoulders. The purple mesh side panels — the most fragile part of this model — are intact, with no holes and no laddering. The turned-down V-neck holds its shape, and the white stripes and red trim on the shoulders haven't yellowed. The embroidered rooster is crisp and the inner label is still perfectly legible.

Unsure about the size? This 2002 adidas S is broad across the shoulders but very short (49 x 65 cm): if you wear a S today, it will feel noticeably shorter than you're used to. Do compare the measurements, or read my size guide.
📖 Thierry Henry's number 12
He could have taken the 10 or the 9. He kept the 12 for his entire international career, and that number became his as surely as a name. This is the shirt he wore at the peak of his powers.
🇯🇵 The 2002 World Cup. This model is the one from the tournament in Korea and Japan, where France, the defending champions, went out in the group stage without scoring a single goal.
🏴 The Arsenal years. Over the same period, Henry was dominating the Premier League with Arsenal — that's the Henry everyone pictures.
⭐ A single star above the rooster. The 1998 one. The second wouldn't arrive until 2018: that detail dates the shirt at a glance.
🎨 Purple on a France shirt — that's the daring of this model, and what makes it instantly recognisable. adidas slipped two large mauve half-moons onto the sides, a colour the FFF has never allowed through since.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt
Is the nameset original?
No, and I'd rather be straight with you: the shirt is 100% authentic, but the HENRY No.12 nameset is a premium reproduction that I applied by hand in my workshop, in the official font of the period. On a piece over twenty years old that's actually a decisive advantage: almost every original 2002 nameset is cracked or partly peeling by now. This one is brand new.
Why "2002-2004" and not a single season?
Because the FFF kept this model across two cycles: it was worn at the 2002 World Cup and then through to Euro 2004. It's a national team shirt, so it doesn't follow the annual club rhythm. The 02/02 label dates this example to the very start of that period.
Why is there a number on the chest?
That's the international tournament configuration: FIFA and UEFA require a front number in their national team competitions. I reproduced the full set-up, front and back.
Is the purple mesh fragile?
The net is finer than the rest of the shirt, yes. To protect it: wash at 30°C inside out, in a laundry bag if you can, no fabric softener, and absolutely no tumble dryer. Don't hang it wet on a thin hanger — the weight of the water pulls on the net. Dry flat.
Does 10/10 mean brand new?
Here it means no flaws at all: no fading, no pilling, no stretching, intact mesh, complete and legible inner label. It doesn't have its original cardboard tags, but on a 2002 piece this is an exceptional state.
How does this S fit?
Measured flat: 49 cm pit to pit and only 65 cm long. Broad across the shoulders but very short — the 2002 adidas cut. If you wear a S today the width will work, but the length will surprise you. Trust the numbers, not the letter.
