Lay flat a shirt that already fits you well, measure it the same way and compare — vintage sizing is often very different from new.

Flawless, nothing to report. The burgundy is deep and even, with no fading or signs of use, and the fine tonal stripes in the weave catch the light perfectly. The orange TOTTI No.10 nameset is crisp across its whole surface, with the she-wolf crest set at the foot of the 1 and the 0, and not a single lifting corner. Embroidered crest with bright colours and perfectly clean edges, orange-trimmed V-neck with no stretching, and the AS·ROMA lettering intact at the back of the collar. Both sleeve patches — the UEFA Champions League starball and Respect — are firmly stitched. Washed and inspected in my workshop, no odour.

• Original Nike label photographed (photo 4): size S, reference 776967-677, production code FA161204DHB and barcode 091203975912. 776967-677 is the exact reference of the 2016-2017 AS Roma home shirt
• The absence of a sponsor is the season's marker (photo 2): Roma played 2016-2017 with no main shirt sponsor. A burgundy home shirt with a printed sponsor cannot be from this season
• The AS·ROMA lettering is woven at the back of the collar (photo 1), in orange on a dark burgundy band. That is an original finishing detail, never cleanly reproduced on copies
• The she-wolf crest is built into the foot of each digit (photo 5): a small shield inside the 1 and inside the 0. That is the signature of the season's official nameset, missing from reproductions that stop at the bare number
• Embroidered crest, not printed (photo 3): the wolf and the twins are in grey and white thread on orange and red, with a dense black outline and a clean reverse under the finger

📖 The Capitano's last shirt

2016-2017 was Francesco Totti's twenty-fifth and final season with AS Roma, the only club of his entire career. This is the shirt of his farewell.

👑 28 May 2017, the farewell. Against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico, Totti played his last professional match at 40, after 25 seasons and more than 780 appearances in the same shirt.

🥈 A record second place. Roma finished runners-up in Italy with 87 points, the highest total in their Serie A history.

🏟️ A season without a sponsor. A rare detail: the club played that whole season with no main shirt sponsor, which gives the 2016-2017 home shirt a visual purity few modern shirts have.

🎨 Burgundy, orange and nothing else — Nike tightened the design around the club's two colours: a deep burgundy run through with woven stripes, a bright orange V-neck and the AS·ROMA lettering at the back of the collar. With no sponsor, the front reduces to the crest and the Swoosh — one of the cleanest home shirts of the decade.
