📐 Flat measurements

Width (pit to pit) 51 cm
Length (shoulder to hem) 72 cm

The tip that prevents returns: lay flat a shirt that fits you well, measure it the same way and compare. Vintage often fits differently from new — this early-2000s M is closer to a modern S/M.

9.5/10

Shirt condition

Excellent condition

For a shirt over twenty years old, this is remarkable. The white has stayed white: no yellowing at the collar or underarms, which is the first thing to check on a Real Madrid shirt from this era. No holes, no stains, no bobbling. The polo collar still stands up, the ZIDANE No.5 nameset is crisp with no cracking or lifting (photo 5), and the embroidered crest and Siemens mobile print are immaculate. No major flaw found on inspection.

100% AUTHENTIC

✦ Authenticity guaranteed for life

Every piece is checked by hand in my authentication workshop. If a shirt bought from me is ever identified as a counterfeit, I refund it in full. Guarantee with no expiry date.

  • Original adidas inner label photographed (photo 4): product code 134741 and production date 12/01. That code matches adidas's reference for this Real Madrid shirt — you can cross-check it yourself in the databases.
  • Raised embroidered Real Madrid crest, with a crisp crown and MCF lettering (photo 3): on reproductions from this era, the embroidery is always the weak point
  • Club centenary logo (1902-2002) printed on the sleeve (photo 2), a detail specific to this generation of Madrid shirts
  • Full method: authentication guide

🛠️ Workshop note — Look at the nameset font in photo 5: that serif, almost typographic lettering was only used by Real Madrid for a handful of seasons in the early 2000s. It is the Galacticos font, the one instantly associated with Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo. Impossible to confuse with a modern nameset.

📖 Zidane, the white No.5 of the Galacticos

Some shirts you buy for a club, others for a player. This one is both: Real Madrid white at the peak of the Galacticos era, printed with the number of one of the greatest French players in history.

📅 Summer 2001 — the record transfer. Zinédine Zidane left Juventus for Real Madrid in what was then the most expensive transfer in football history. He took the No.5, after Figo in 2000 and before Ronaldo in 2002: the building of the Galacticos.

📅 15 May 2002 — the Glasgow volley. Champions League final at Hampden Park, Real Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen. Zidane's left-footed volley became one of the greatest goals in the competition's history. The club's ninth European Cup.

📅 June 2003 — champions of Spain. Real Madrid won La Liga at the end of the 2002-2003 season, the season of this shirt. It was that generation's last major league title before the harder years that followed.

📅 The centenary logo. On the sleeve, the small “1902-2002” logo marks the club's hundred years, celebrated during this period. It dates the piece at a glance, and it appears on no later shirt.

👑 Zinédine Zidane — 1998 Ballon d'Or, 1998 World Cup winner and Euro 2000 winner with France. Five seasons at Real as a player, then manager of the club, winning three consecutive Champions League titles. His period Madrid shirts, with the right nameset and in this condition, get rarer every year.

🎯 Who is this shirt for?

← Scroll →

01

The Zidane collector

A genuine period Real Madrid printed ZIDANE 5, at 9.5/10, in the Galacticos stencil font. This is the centrepiece of a Zidane collection.

02

The nostalgic madridista

Polo collar, Siemens mobile, centenary logo: this is the Real of before, of the ninth European Cup and the Bernabéu of the 2000s.

03

The shirt investor

Legendary player, title-winning season, near-perfect condition at twenty years old: the three criteria that push a piece up on the vintage market.

04

The memorable gift

For a French football fan born in the 80s or 90s, giving Zidane's white shirt means giving a piece of their childhood.

Not sure? My Mystery Box offer is a great alternative — just add “Real Madrid” in the order notes.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt

Is the shirt 100% authentic?

Yes. The original adidas label is photographed (photo 4) with product code 134741 and production date 12/01. Raised embroidered crest, centenary logo on the sleeve, period stencil nameset. Lifetime authenticity guarantee, with no expiry.

Has the white yellowed over time?

No, and that is what justifies the 9.5/10. On a white shirt over twenty years old, yellowing at the collar and underarms is the rule rather than the exception. This one has stayed clean and even: you can check on photos 1 and 2, taken in natural light.

What is the logo on the sleeve?

It is Real Madrid's centenary logo, “1902-2002”, marking the club's hundred years. It only appears on shirts from this period, which makes it an excellent dating marker for a collector.

How does this adidas shirt fit in size M?

Actual flat measurements: 51 cm pit to pit, 72 cm in length. Early-2000s cuts are narrower than today's M: expect something closer to a modern S/M. More benchmarks in my sizing guide.

Is there only one of these?

Yes. Every shirt I sell is a single piece, photographed exactly as it is. On a reference of this level I cannot replace it: once this one is gone, it does not come back.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Dispatched within 48 working hours with tracked Colissimo delivery — free on this shirt, since delivery is free from €100 in mainland France. International rates and delivery times are detailed in my shipping FAQ. Returns accepted within 14 days if unworn.
