I couldn't find anything to fault. The white is clean, with no yellowing at the collar or underarms, and the tone-on-tone pattern in the knit is intact. The navy V-neck and cuffs aren't stretched, the navy and claret shoulder stripes are crisp, and the Winamax sponsor shows no cracking. The MAJA 9 printing is smooth, with no lifting edges.

Founded in 1881, the Girondins celebrated their 140th anniversary in 2021, and this away shirt marks it discreetly with 1881-2021 at the back of the neck. White, navy V-neck, one navy shoulder and one claret: a sober tribute to the colours of a six-time French champion.

Summer 2021: Vladimir Petković, fresh from taking Switzerland to the Euro quarter-finals, takes charge of the team.

May 2022: Bordeaux finish bottom of Ligue 1 and leave the top flight after thirty consecutive seasons.
