7/10
Shirt condition
Good condition
The sky blue fabric has kept its colour, with no holes or snags, and the Neuf Telecom sponsor is complete. The embroidered crest and the adidas logo are intact. The weak point is the three silver stripes on the shoulders and sleeves: the metallic coating is cracked and partly worn away (photos 6 and 7). It is the classic wear of this finish on adidas shirts of the period, and it is what sets the grade at 7/10.

Key facts about this piece
The silver stripes on the shoulders and sleeves are cracked and have lost part of their metallic shine, visible in photos 6 and 7. The rest of the shirt is sound: fabric, sponsor, crest and seams show no notable wear.

Workshop note — On 2005 adidas shirts, the production date and model code are printed on a separate label: here 08/05, August 2005, right at the start of the season. Cracking silver stripes are typical of this metallic finish and cannot be reproduced identically. The printing and the LFP patch were applied in my workshop: I never use them as proof.
Marseille 2005-2006, a season of cups
Under Jean Fernandez, OM had an up-and-down league campaign but shone in the knockout competitions. Marseille finished fifth in Ligue 1 and found their way back into Europe through the side door.
2005 Intertoto Cup winners. In the final, OM turned the tie around against Deportivo La Coruña and earned a UEFA Cup place in the summer.
2006 Coupe de France final. At the Stade de France, Marseille lost 2-1 to PSG in a Classique with a trophy at stake.
Habib Beye, who arrived from Strasbourg in 2003, was then a mainstay on OM's right flank. A Senegal international, he had played the 2002 World Cup with the Lions of Teranga, quarter-finalists of the tournament.
Frequently asked questions
Will the silver stripes keep deteriorating?
The coating is already cracked, it will not vanish all at once. Wash the shirt inside out at 30 °C, no tumble dryer and no ironing on the stripes: that is what slows down the wear of this finish the most.
Were the printing and the patch added?
Yes, the BEYE 23 printing and the LFP patch were applied in my workshop. I never count them among the proofs of authenticity: those relate to the shirt only.
How can I check the shirt is authentic?
Look at the small inner label: 08/05 and 110225. This model code matches the OM 2005-2006 long sleeve away shirt, and you can check it yourself online.
How does this L fit?
True to size: 55 cm pit to pit and 76 cm long, with sleeves reaching the wrist. If you wear L on the high street, it should fit you; between two sizes, compare with the flat measurements.
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
Dispatched within 24-48 h with tracking: €5.99 in France, €9.99 to the EU, free from €99.99. You have 14 days to send the shirt back if it does not suit you. All the details in my shipping FAQ.
