Shirt condition

Excellent condition

A very fine piece for a 2008 shirt. The royal blue has not faded, the white and yellow polo collar is neither stretched nor yellowed, the DECO No.20 printing and both Barclays patches are flawless. The only wear point is the SAMSUNG sponsor: the white vinyl shows fine cracking, normal on a print of this age, which I show close-up (photos 6 and 7). No holes, no stains, no fading otherwise.

100% AUTHENTIC

✦ Authenticity guaranteed for life

Every piece is checked by hand in my authentication workshop. If a shirt bought from me is ever identified as a fake, I refund it in full. No expiry date on that guarantee.

  • Original adidas inner label photographed (photo 4): reference 656133 and production date 12/08 — December 2008, right in the middle of the 2008-2009 season
  • Chelsea crest embroidered with the crowned lion holding the crozier, circled in yellow: dense relief and clean outlines (photo 3), where fakes bleed
  • Barclays Premier League patches sewn on both sleeves — the league's regulation configuration, often badly reproduced (only one sleeve on fakes)
  • DECO No.20 printing in the official Premier League font of the period, with the crowned lions built into the base of the digits (photo 5)
  • Real photos of the exact shirt for sale, never stock images — full method in my authentication guide

🛠️ Workshop note — The lions inside the digits are my number one checkpoint on a Premier League shirt. They must be sharp, centred and integrated into the print, not added on top. Here it checks out.

📖 2008-2009: Chelsea's season of two faces

Royal blue, white polo collar with yellow trim, Samsung across the chest: one of the most recognisable shirts of Chelsea's modern era. It belongs to a chaotic, magnificent season with two managers, one trophy and one of the most argued-over European exits in history.

📅 Summer 2008 — Deco leaves Barça for London. At 30, a two-time Champions League winner (Porto 2004, Barcelona 2006), he chose Chelsea and the No.20. He scored on his Premier League debut on 17 August 2008 against Portsmouth.

📅 6 May 2009 — Chelsea 1-1 FC Barcelona, Champions League semi-final second leg. Iniesta equalised in the 93rd minute at Stamford Bridge and knocked the Blues out on away goals. A night people still talk about.

📅 30 May 2009 — Chelsea 2-1 Everton, FA Cup final at Wembley. Guus Hiddink, who arrived mid-season, rescued the campaign with the FA Cup. Chelsea finished 3rd in the Premier League.

👑 Deco — Anderson Luís de Souza, a Brazilian-born Portuguese playmaker, one of the few players to have won the Champions League with two different clubs. His spell at Chelsea (2008-2010) left behind a rare printing, highly sought after by collectors.

🎯 Who is this shirt for?

← Swipe →

01

The Abramovich-era Blues fan

Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Cech — and Deco in midfield. This was the Chelsea that frightened Europe, three years before the 2012 title.

02

The rare-printing collector

Only two years at Chelsea: a DECO 20 printing is markedly harder to find than a Lampard or a Drogba from the same period.

03

The polo-collar lover

White collar with yellow trim, turned-back cuffs: this shirt wears like a polo every day. One of the most elegant adidas designs of the decade.

04

The value hunter

The sponsor cracking brings the price down without touching the printing, the patches or the crest. A 2008 shirt in this condition is a smart buy.

Not sure? My Mystery Box is a great alternative — just add "Chelsea" in the order notes.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt

What exactly is the state of the Samsung sponsor?

The white vinyl shows fine cracking, visible close-up in photos 6 and 7. The letters are complete and nothing is peeling off. It is the classic wear of a 2008 sponsor print — and the only reservation on this shirt, hence the 9/10 rating.

Is this Chelsea shirt authentic?

Yes. The adidas label photographed (photo 4) carries reference 656133 and the date 12/08, consistent with the Chelsea 2008-2009 home shirt. Add the embroidered lion crest, the Barclays patches on both sleeves and the official Premier League printing. Guaranteed for life.

Why a Barclays patch on each sleeve?

That is the Premier League rule: the league badge is worn on both sleeves, unlike UEFA which puts one per side alongside RESPECT. An English shirt with only one Barclays patch should raise a flag.

Did Deco really play for Chelsea?

Yes, from 2008 to 2010, wearing No.20. He joined from FC Barcelona in summer 2008 and scored on his Premier League debut. He is one of the few players to have won the Champions League with two different clubs: Porto in 2004 and Barcelona in 2006.

How does this M fit?

Comfortably. Measured flat: 54 cm pit to pit and 77 cm long — adidas shirts in 2008 were longer and wider than today's M. If you wear a modern S and like a little room, this M works well.

How much is shipping and how fast?

Dispatched within 48 working hours with tracked Colissimo (€5.99 within mainland France, free over €100). International rates and delivery times are detailed on my shipping FAQ. 14-day returns if unworn.
