Flawless. The grey gradient and the dot pattern are perfectly sharp, the black and red V-neck has kept all its hold, the TAARABT No.49 printing and the UEFA patches show no hint of lifting. It simply no longer has its cardboard tags — hence "without tags", but the condition itself is that of a new shirt.

📖 Taarabt at Benfica: modern football's finest second act

Some printings you buy for the club. And then there is TAARABT 49, which you buy for the story. The story of a player English football had filed under "wasted talent", and who started again from scratch in Lisbon.

📅 2010-2011 — the QPR prodigy. Adel Taarabt was named Championship Player of the Year and almost single-handedly carried Queens Park Rangers to the Premier League. At 22, he was being compared to the greats.

📅 2015 — arrival at Benfica, then the wilderness years. Injured, frozen out, loaned away, he virtually disappeared from the pitch for several seasons. Many thought his career was over.

📅 2018-2019 — the comeback, and a Portuguese title. Dropped deeper into midfield and reinvented as a deep-lying playmaker, Taarabt became an essential Benfica player again and lifted the Primeira Liga. The shirt you are looking at belongs to the following season, when he finally strung it together.

👑 The shirt itself — grey gradient with a dot pattern, neon red, black V-neck: one of the most graphic adidas away shirts Benfica ever wore, and one of the rare Portuguese shirts to genuinely catch on outside Portugal. With the Champions League patches, this is the big-night configuration at the Estádio da Luz.
