📐 Flat measurements

Width (pit to pit)49 cm
Length (shoulder to hem)71 cm

Lay flat a shirt that fits you well, measure it the same way and compare — vintage sizing is often different from modern kits. Late-2000s Nike shirts run narrow: this S is a genuine S.

9.5/10

Shirt condition

Excellent, near mint

No flaws found. The sky blue is even, with no rings or fading — far from a given on a shade this light after nearly twenty years. The red-white-blue chest band is crisp and the royal blue V-neck isn't stretched. The SNEIJDER 10 printing is complete and supple, with not a corner lifting (close-up in photo 5). EURO 2008 and RESPECT patches intact, embroidered KNVB crest flawless. No holes, no stains, no bobbling.

100% AUTHENTIC

✦ Authenticity guaranteed for life

Item checked by hand in my authentication workshop. If an item bought from me is ever identified as a counterfeit, I refund it in full. Guarantee with no expiry date.

  • Original Nike inner label photographed (photo 4): model reference 259032-479, size S, full barcode — a code you can cross-check yourself online
  • Raised embroidered KNVB crest (photo 3): crowned Dutch lion in white on blue, double white and red outline — dense stitching, every strand of the mane distinct
  • « NEDERLAND » woven neck tape at the back of the collar (photo 1) and the lyrics of the Wilhelmus, the Dutch anthem, screen-printed inside the collar (visible in photo 2) — a detail invisible when worn, and therefore never reproduced by copies
  • UEFA EURO 2008 patch and RESPECT patch heat-applied to UEFA specifications
  • Full method: authentication guide

🛠️ Workshop note — Look at the shape of the 0 (photo 5): Nike designed an angular, almost square font for the Oranje, with no rounding. Copies almost always use a generic font with softened corners. It's the first thing I check on a Dutch printing from this period.

📖 EURO 2008: the No.10 of a golden generation

In the summer of 2008 the Netherlands were handed the « group of death »: reigning world champions Italy, 2006 World Cup finalists France, and Romania. They won all three. At the heart of the team, a 24-year-old playmaker creating and scoring: Wesley Sneijder, number 10. This sky blue away shirt belongs to that campaign.

📅 9 June 2008, Bern — Netherlands 3-0 Italy. The reigning world champions swept aside in the opening game. Sneijder scored the second with a left-footed volley that went straight into the tournament's highlight reels.

📅 13 June 2008, Bern — Netherlands 4-1 France. Four days later France fell too, with Sneijder closing the scoring. The Oranje topped the group with nine points from nine, before going out in the quarter-final to Russia.

📅 2010: Sneijder's year. Two years after this shirt he put together one of the most complete seasons any player has managed: a league, cup and Champions League treble with Inter Milan, followed by a World Cup final with the Netherlands, where he finished on five goals.

👑 Wesley Sneijder — developed at Ajax, then Real Madrid and Inter, he remains the most-capped player in Dutch history with 134 caps. Through this period, the Oranje No.10 was his and nobody else's.

🎯 Who is this shirt for?

← Scroll →

01

The Sneijder fan

The Oranje No.10, the volley against Italy, the road to 2010. His international shirts circulate far less than his Inter ones.

02

Anyone tired of orange

Everyone knows the orange shirt. The sky blue away with its tricolour band is far rarer, and much easier to wear day to day.

03

The No.10 collector

Some collect clubs, others collect numbers. An original-printed international 10, dated by a tournament patch, ticks both boxes.

04

The smaller frame

49 cm wide, 71 cm long: a genuine S. Printed small sizes in 9.5/10 are what go fastest here.

Not sure what to pick? My Mystery Box is a great alternative — just add « Netherlands » in your order note.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt

Is the shirt 100% authentic?

Yes. Original Nike inner label with reference 259032-479 photographed (photo 4), raised embroidered KNVB crest, « NEDERLAND » woven neck tape, Wilhelmus lyrics inside the collar, EURO 2008 and RESPECT patches to UEFA specifications. Real photos of the exact item sold, lifetime authenticity guarantee.

Why do the Netherlands play in sky blue away from home?

Because orange, the colour of the House of Orange-Nassau, is reserved for the home shirt. For the away kit the KNVB long alternated between white and blue. This 2008 sky blue version, with its red-white-blue band echoing the flag, is one of the most admired — and it circulated far less than the orange.

What is the colourful patch on the sleeve?

It's the official UEFA EURO 2008 patch, for the tournament hosted by Austria and Switzerland. It was only worn on shirts from that campaign: it dates the piece to the exact tournament and separates it from a qualifying shirt or a reissue.

How does this S fit?

The flat measurements are listed above: 49 cm pit to pit and 71 cm in length. Late-2000s Nike shirts have a narrow cut, so this S works as a modern S worn close to the body. Measure a shirt you already own and compare — that's the safest check.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Dispatched within 48 working hours with tracked Colissimo delivery (€5.99 in mainland France, free over €100). International rates and delivery times are detailed in my shipping FAQ. 14-day returns if unworn.
