📖 Qatar 2022: Modrić's last great run
Four years after the Moscow final, nobody expected Croatia any more. Yet at 37, Luka Modrić took his country of 4 million people back into the last four. This away shirt — navy blue, faded chequerboard across the shoulders — belongs to that campaign: the last World Cup of Croatia's golden generation.
📅 9 December 2022 — Brazil 1-1 Croatia (2-4 on penalties). In the quarter-final, Croatia knocked out Brazil on penalties after conceding a Neymar goal in extra time. One of the greatest results in their history.
📅 13 December 2022 — Argentina 3-0 Croatia. The dream ended in the semi-final against Messi's Argentina, the eventual world champions.
📅 17 December 2022 — Croatia 2-1 Morocco. Croatia finished third at the World Cup, after the 2018 final and the third place of 1998. Three World Cup podiums for a country of 4 million people.
