⚠️ Read this before buying

The Betano logo on the left sleeve has a few faint colour marks, slightly pinkish, on the white of the logo. You can see it in photo 6, shot close up — at normal viewing distance it goes unnoticed. The rest of the shirt is flawless. It's the only reason this isn't a 10/10.

Shirt condition

Excellent condition

The black is deep with no fading — the thing I check first on a dark shirt, where the slightest greying shows immediately. The vertical blue-yellow-green-red band is crisp, with no bleeding and no cracking. The white trims at the hem and shoulders are clean. The nameset and the Emirates sponsor are flawless. Only flaw: the colour marks on the Betano sleeve logo described above (photo 6).

100% AUTHENTIC

✦ Authenticity guaranteed for life

Item checked by hand in my authentication workshop. If a piece bought from me is ever identified as a fake, I refund it in full. Guarantee with no expiry date.

  • Inner label photographed (photo 4): reference IA7133 and production date 12/23. December 2023, right in the middle of the 2023-2024 season
  • "120 ANOS" screen-printed under the back collar: the club's anniversary mark, founded in 1904. It's the most reliable dating marker on this shirt, and it only appears on that season's models
  • Embroidered eagle, with three stars above: the bird and the spoked wheel are raised embroidery, and the Latin motto on the crest stays legible under a loupe. On a copy, the whole thing is heat-pressed and the wheel detail is lost
  • The white trims are sewn on, not printed: along the hem and the shoulders, these are real stitched bands. Turn the shirt inside out and you'll see the seam. Replicas print them flat
  • Real photos of the exact shirt for sale, never stock images — full method in my authentication guide

🛠️ Workshop note — The first thing I look at on this model is the vertical band down the centre. Blue, yellow, green, red: those aren't decorative colours picked at random, they belong to Benfica's other sporting sections — the club is far more than a football team. On an authentic example, every line runs perfectly straight from collar to hem and keeps the same width all the way down. It's a simple test: lay the shirt flat and follow the lines with your eye. On copies they wobble slightly where they cross the seams.

📖 The 87 before the move to Paris

A number 87 on the back is unusual. It has also become the signature of one of European football's brightest midfield prospects — and this shirt matches his final Portuguese season.

🎂 120 years, written on the shirt. Benfica were founded in 1904: the 2023-2024 season marks their 120th anniversary, noted under the back collar.

✈️ Off to PSG, summer 2024. João Neves left Lisbon at the end of this season to join Paris Saint-Germain. This shirt is one of the last from his Benfica spell.

⭐ Three stars above the eagle. They mark the thirty Portuguese league titles the club has won — one star for every ten.

🎨 Black, the Lisbon exception — Benfica play in red. This black shirt crossed by a multicoloured band is the away you spot from a distance, and one of the most sought-after of recent seasons.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt

Is the nameset original?

No, and I'd rather be straight with you: the shirt is 100% authentic, but the JOÃO NEVES No.87 nameset is a premium reproduction that I applied by hand in my workshop, in the official 2023-2024 Liga Portugal font. That's an advantage: it's brand new, guaranteed not to crack or peel.

And the Liga Portugal and CAMPEÃO patches?

Same thing: I applied them in the workshop at the same time as the nameset. So they aren't period patches and they aren't proof of anything. What proves the shirt is authentic is the referenced label, the "120 ANOS" print, the embroidered eagle and the sewn trims — not what was added afterwards.

How do you know it's really 2023-2024?

Two matching pieces of evidence. The label carries the adidas reference IA7133 and the date 12/23. And above all, the "120 ANOS" print under the back collar: since Benfica were founded in 1904, it can only match that season. You can check the reference yourself.

Will the marks on the Betano logo come out?

I'm not promising that, and I'd rather sell you the shirt exactly as it is. It's a slight colour transfer onto the white part of the logo, on the left sleeve. I didn't treat it aggressively, to avoid damaging the sponsor print. At wearing distance, you don't see it.

Has the black faded?

No. It's the first check I run on a dark shirt: no greying, no lightened areas at the shoulders or elbows, and the black stays consistent between the body and the sleeves. The photos are of the exact shirt for sale.

How does this L fit?

Measured flat: 55 cm pit to pit and 79 cm long. A generous adidas L, close to an XL in some current cuts. If you wear a fitted L, this shirt will feel roomy — which suits the way shirts are worn today.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Sent within 48 working hours with Colissimo tracking (€5.99 in mainland France, free from €100). International rates and delivery times are detailed in my shipping FAQ. Returns accepted within 14 days if unworn.
