No flaws. The red of the central band is bright and perfectly even, and the white side panels have no grey cast and no marks — on a two-tone shirt like this, the slightest difference in whiteness between panels would jump out, and there is none. The ribbed knit is intact, with no pilling. The embroidered crest is crisp, the V-neck holds its shape, and the inner labels are complete and legible.

Unsure about the size? This adidas L is wide and long (55 x 78 cm), so genuinely generous: compare the flat measurements above, or read my size guide.

100% AUTHENTIC

✦ Authenticity guaranteed for life

Item checked by hand in my authentication workshop. If a piece bought from me is ever identified as a fake, I refund it in full. Guarantee with no expiry date.

  • Inner label photographed (photo 4): reference FI4798 and production date 02/20. February 2020, the run produced for the 2020-2021 season
  • The red band is woven in, not printed: look at photo 2 — the red and white are two separate knit panels joined by a vertical seam on each side. Copies print the band onto a white shirt, and the edge bleeds slightly
  • Embroidered crest, with three stars above it: the Greek hero's profile is raised embroidery, and the three European Cup stars are added separately. On a copy, the whole thing is heat-pressed in one piece
  • Vertical ribbed knit on the white panels: fine raised ridges, visible in raking light. That's the 2020 AEROREADY structure, absent from replicas which use a smooth jersey
  • Real photos of the exact shirt for sale, never stock images — full method in my authentication guide

🛠️ Workshop note — Zoom in on the crest in photo 3: that profile isn't an ordinary drawing. It's the Greek hero Ajax, and it's traced with eleven lines only — one for each player on the pitch. The logo dates from 1990 and the club has never changed its construction since. When I authenticate an Ajax shirt, that's the first thing I count: rough embroidery always has one line too many or too few.

📖 The number 8 of an eighteen-year-old

Ajax doesn't just sell shirts, it sells promises. This one carries the name of an eighteen-year-old midfielder from the season he broke into the first team — before Munich, before Liverpool.

🏆 The 2020-2021 double. Ajax won the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup in the same season. This shirt belongs to a year of trophies.

👟 Ryan Gravenberch, number 8. Trained at De Toekomst, he became a regular starter that season. He left Amsterdam for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022.

⭐ Three stars above the crest. They mark the three consecutive European Cups Ajax won between 1971 and 1973, the golden age of Total Football.

🎨 The red band, unchanged for a century — white at the sides, a broad red band down the middle: Ajax have worn this design since 1911. Few European clubs have such a stable visual identity.

🎯 Who is this shirt for?

← Scroll →

01

The Gravenberch follower

His Amsterdam No.8, from the season he established himself in the first team at eighteen.

02

The Ajax lover

The red band, the three stars, the 2021 double: it's all there.

03

The one who wears it loose

55 x 78 cm: a generous adidas L that hangs well in a relaxed fit.

04

The condition stickler

10/10 on a half-white, half-red shirt: no panel has shifted, no red has bled.

Not sure? My Mystery Box offer is a great alternative — just write "Ajax" in the order notes.

❓ Frequently asked questions about this shirt

Is the nameset original?

No, and I'd rather be straight with you: the shirt is 100% authentic, but the GRAVENBERCH No.8 nameset is a premium reproduction that I applied by hand in my workshop, in the official 2020-2021 Eredivisie font. That's an advantage: it's brand new, guaranteed not to crack or peel.

And the gold badge on the sleeve?

Same thing: I applied it in the workshop at the same time as the nameset. So it isn't a period patch and it isn't proof of anything. What proves the shirt is authentic is the referenced label, the embroidered crest and the panelled construction — not what was added afterwards.

How do you know it's really 2020-2021?

The inner label carries the adidas reference FI4798 and the production date 02/20. February 2020 matches the run produced for the 2020-2021 season: the two pieces of information line up, and you can check the reference yourself.

Could the red bleed onto the white?

Not on this one: the panels have already been through several washes with no migration at all, and the line between red and white is perfectly clean. To stay safe, wash at 30°C inside out, alone or with colours, and dry flat.

Does 10/10 mean brand new?

Here it means no flaws at all: no fading, no pilling, no stretching, complete inner labels. It doesn't have its original cardboard tags, but its condition is that of a shirt that has barely been used.

How does this L fit?

Measured flat: 55 cm pit to pit and 78 cm long. It's a generous adidas L, closer to an XL in some current cuts. If you wear a fitted L, this shirt will feel roomy — which suits the way shirts are worn today.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Sent within 48 working hours with Colissimo tracking (€5.99 in mainland France, free from €100). International rates and delivery times are detailed in my shipping FAQ. Returns accepted within 14 days if unworn.
