New OM 2026 Logo: photos, analysis and impact on vintage jerseys

The new Olympique de Marseille logo was officially unveiled on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, during the 6th edition of the Treizième Homme gala. It is the 12th crest in the history of the Phocaean club and replaces the old logo in place since 2004. This new design, the result of 24 months of conception, will be visible on OM jerseys starting from the 2026-2027 season. More streamlined, rounder, with a central "M" unfolding in a double circle, it embodies Marseille's identity for the digital age.

For supporters, it's an emotional moment. For jersey collectors, it's another thing entirely: a strong signal in the secondary market. Let's look in detail at what's changing, and more importantly, what it means for your collection.

The new OM logo: what changes, what remains

Visually, the break is clear. The old crest — in place since 2004, for over 22 years — gives way to a more streamlined, rounder, more digital design. The central "M" unfolds freely within a double circle, the blue is darker — officially named "Bleu Marseille" — and the motto "Droit au But" (Straight to the Goal) is displayed in gold beneath the emblem, with the star of the 1993 European triumph at the top.

“Our new logo modernizes our iconic emblem while honoring its history,” the club announced. “A clear geometric structure that brings strength and legibility, while the M unfolds freely — recalling the liveliness of water, the freedom of the wind, and the fire that burns in the heart of Marseille.”

Interim president Alban Juster emphasized the scale of the work: 24 months of design, a new proprietary typeface named "OM Marseille," and an overall redesign conceived for the digital age. “When the old logo was designed, there were no smartphones,” recalled Alessandro Antonello, the club's general manager. “Today everything is digital. With this logo, we are ready for the challenges of the future.”

This new logo will appear on players' jerseys starting from the 2026-2027 season. The official announcement was made on the club's X account:

When will the new OM logo be on the jerseys?

The new OM logo will make its official appearance on jerseys starting from the 2026-2027 season, which kicks off in August 2026. Until the end of the 2025-2026 season, the old crest will remain visible on all equipment worn by players. The first official jerseys with the new logo are expected to be unveiled by Puma, the club's equipment supplier, in June-July 2026, before the start of the pre-season preparation.

For fans who want to be among the first to wear the new design, they will have to wait for the official sale of the 2026-2027 jerseys — probably around early July according to Puma's usual schedule. Supporters wishing to preserve the legacy of the old crest can, however, purchase vintage OM jerseys with the historic crest now, further down in this article.

What this changes for vintage jerseys with the old crest

Old OM logo embroidered on vintage jersey — crest in place from 2004 to 2026

This is the question few media are asking tonight — and yet it's one that interests tens of thousands of collectors in France.

When a big club changes its logo, the same thing always happens in the secondary market: jerseys bearing the old crest mechanically increase in value. Not in the days that follow — but over a trajectory of 2 to 5 years.

The logic is simple. The old logo disappears from new jerseys next season. It will no longer be produced. Existing stocks sell out. And in 5 years, an OM jersey with the 2004 crest becomes an item that embodies a bygone era — exactly like jerseys with the emblem before 2004 are sought-after pieces today.

Which period is the most sought-after?

The crest that is ending today has adorned OM jerseys since 2004 — that's 22 seasons of Phocaean football. These years saw Samir Nasri, Lorik Cana, Mamadou Niang, André Ayew, Dimitri Payet, Morgan Sanson, Florian Thauvin. Ligue 1 titles, a Europa League final in 2018, and European nights that electrified the Vélodrome.

The most sought-after jerseys in the collector's market are those that combine three criteria: an iconic player, a memorable season, and impeccable condition. With the change of logo, each of these jerseys becomes a visual document of 22 years of Olympique history.

The pattern we observe with every logo change

This is not a theory — it's a documented pattern. When OM changed its logo in 2004, jerseys from the 90s with the emblem of that era began to increase in value in the years that followed. Jerseys from the 1993 Champions League final, worn by Boli, Cantona, and Papin with the old crest, are now worth 3 to 5 times their original price.

The ideal time to buy an OM jersey with the 2004 crest? Now, before the market fully integrates it. In 18 months, when the first 2026-2027 jerseys with the new logo are worn on the field, demand for pieces from the old era will accelerate. This is exactly the same dynamic I described in my guide on the value of rare jerseys.

Supporters' reactions: OM true to itself

As always in Marseille, unanimity is not the case. On social media, opinions are divided — some praise the modernity of the design, others regret the break with the historic crest. The club, for its part, takes responsibility: "Like all evolutions, and especially that of a logo, it cannot please everyone."

What is certain is that this controversy itself is part of Marseille's history. And in 20 years, the anecdote of the evening OM presented its new logo while PSG was playing in the Champions League will bring a smile.
