The rippled navy, in full Champions League configuration

Season 2019-2020. Real Madrid releases one of its most intricate away shirts of the decade: a deep navy run through with a light-blue rippled print, Fly Emirates sponsor in gold and a gold crest. This one is set up in full European configuration — starball, 13-titles badge, RESPECT patch — and lettered Rodrygo 27.

The season

Rodrygo Goes arrived from Santos in the summer of 2019, aged eighteen, wearing number 27. On 6 November 2019 he scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray in the Champions League — one of the youngest players ever to do so in the competition. It is the season that established him in the Madrid squad, and the one in which the club won La Liga. A shirt lettered 27 belongs to that first year precisely: Rodrygo would change number afterwards.

What the photos show

  • Photo 1 — the full back: RODRYGO and the 27 in gold, starball on the right sleeve, 13-titles badge and UEFA RESPECT patch on the left.
  • Photo 2 — the front: gold Fly Emirates, crest, black adidas stripes at the shoulders, rippled print visible across the whole surface.
  • Photo 3 — sponsor and crest detail: the sponsor is intact, and the fabric print runs unbroken beneath the markings.
  • Photo 4 — the inner label: 08/19 · FJ3151 · AV1007.
  • Photo 5 — the lettering in macro: official Champions League font, with the small Real crests printed into the base of each digit.
  • Photo 6 — macro of the crest, showing precisely its current shade (see condition).

Authentication

  • Authenticity code: FJ3151, the adidas reference for the Real Madrid 2019-2020 away shirt, legible in photo 4.
  • The production date 08/19 on the same label: August 2019, exactly the manufacturing window expected for this season.
  • The club crests built into the digits of the lettering (photo 5), an official UCL font detail that copies almost always get wrong.
  • The consistent patch configuration: starball on one side, 13-titles badge and RESPECT on the other — the regulation setup for that season's European fixtures.
  • The continuous rippled print, whose motifs carry across the fabric panels without interruption.

Condition — 9/10

Excellent overall condition. The fabric is intact, with no holes, stains or snags; the RODRYGO 27 lettering is complete and uncracked; all three patches are firmly attached and sharp; the Fly Emirates sponsor is strong.

The one point to flag concerns the heat-applied crest: its shade has shifted slightly over time and now leans towards an iridescent gold-green across the body of the crest, while the crown stays firmly gold. It only shows very close up, and we show it in a dedicated macro (photo 6) rather than burying it in a wide shot. The crest is neither cracked nor lifting: its relief and detail are intact, only the hue has moved.

Measurements — size M

Measured flat, shirt laid out:

  • Width (armpit to armpit): 50 cm
  • Length (shoulder to hem): 76 cm

These are the actual measurements of this specific example, not a generic size chart. Compare them with a shirt you already wear.

Frequently asked

Will the crest's colour shift get worse?
These gold heat-applied crests react to heat. Wash at 30°C inside out, no tumble dryer, no iron on the markings: under those conditions it will stay exactly as you receive it.

Why European patches on an away shirt?
Because that is the Champions League match setup. La Liga shirts carried the Spanish league patch instead: this is the European version.

What does the “13” badge mean?
It is the multiple-winners badge, worn by clubs that have won the competition at least five times. The figure indicates Real's title count at that date.

Is 27 Rodrygo's correct number?
Yes, for his first Madrid season. That is what makes this lettering interesting: it dates the shirt as reliably as a label does.
