FC Barcelona 2019-2020 Home Shirt - Suárez No.9 (S)

A few micro-pills on the back, to the right of the number (photo 6). Nothing else: no holes, no stains, no damage to the nameset. It is the only reason this shirt is not a 10/10, and it is invisible from a metre away.

📐 Flat measurements

Lay flat a shirt that already fits you well, measure it the same way and compare — vintage sizing is often very different from new.

Excellent, apart from the few micro-pills on the back flagged above. The blue and claret checkerboard is still deep, with no faded areas and no discolouration at the shoulders. The gold SUÁREZ No.9 nameset is complete and firmly bonded: no lifting letter corners, no cracking in the gold, and the club crest set inside the 9 is intact. The white Rakuten print on the chest shows no cracking. Flawless embroidered FCB crest, firmly attached LaLiga patch, Catalan senyera collar with no stretching or yellowing. No odour, washed and inspected in my workshop.

• Nike reference AJ5532-456 on the wash label (photo 4): the exact product code of the FC Barcelona 2019-2020 Stadium home shirt. It is cross-checked by the barcode 192498237041 and the batch number FA190309HTQ, dated March 2019 — the pre-season production run
• The FC Barcelona crest is printed inside the 9 (photo 5): a small blaugrana reproduction tucked into the lower loop of the digit. It is the signature of that season's official LaLiga nameset, and copies always miss it
• The inner collar carries the Catalan senyera stripes (photo 3): red and yellow, woven and not printed, visible only when you lift the collar. An internal detail fakes never reproduce

📖 Suárez, the checkerboard and the end of an era at the Camp Nou

This shirt marks a turning point. Luis Suárez's last one worn across a full season, in a design that split all of Catalonia, just before Messi's Barça came apart.

⚽ 198 goals in blaugrana. Suárez left Barça in September 2020 as the club's third-highest scorer of all time, behind Messi and César Rodríguez. Six seasons, thirteen trophies.

🎯 The backheel of 7 December 2019. Against Mallorca, back to goal and under pressure, he curled a backheel into the top corner from the angle of the box. The most replayed goal of his Barcelona career — and it was scored in this shirt.

🏅 Messi's sixth Ballon d'Or. December 2019: Messi becomes the first player to win six, wearing this checkerboard. The season that closes the Camp Nou's golden decade.

🎨 A checkerboard, not stripes — for the first time in its history, Barça dropped the vertical stripes for a blue and claret grid. Heavily criticised on release, it is now one of the most sought-after shirts of the Nike era, precisely because it was never brought back.
