Excellent condition

The green and white hoops are bright and the black V-neck is crisp. Two small things to note: a light mark on the white near the NOS sponsor (photo 6), which should come out in the wash, and slight wear on the 9 of the number (photo 7). The crest and sponsor are in perfect condition.

  • Hoops built into the shirt, lining up along the sides and under the arms (photos 1 and 2)

Workshop note — Macron made Sporting's kits in the late 2010s, which places this model clearly. I check the brand label, the quality of the crest and how the hoops line up at the side seams. Everything checks out, and the two small marks are superficial.

Rafael Leão, the early days at Alvalade

A product of Sporting's academy, Rafael Leão made his first-team debut during this 2017-2018 season.

A Champions League season: Sporting played the group stage against FC Barcelona, Juventus and Olympiacos.

2018 Portuguese League Cup, won in January on penalties against Vitória Setúbal.

May 2018, the attack on the Alcochete training ground. Several players terminated their contracts, including Leão, who joined Lille in summer 2018.

What came next: AC Milan in 2019, the Scudetto in 2022 and Serie A's best player award the same season. This shirt is where it all started.

Frequently asked questions

Are the two small marks visible?

Only up close. The mark near the NOS sponsor is light and should come out in the wash, and the slight wear on the 9 only shows if you look closely at the print. I photographed both (photos 6 and 7).

How can I check the shirt is authentic?

Look at the Macron inner label, with the headquarters address in Valsamoggia, then the lion crest, which should be sharp. Finally, check that the hoops line up at the side seams.

Were the Champions League patches added later?

Yes, they were applied in my workshop. They are not used as proof of authenticity: that rests on the label, the crest and the construction of the shirt.
