The captain's final season

2014-2015: Steven Gerrard plays his last season with Liverpool before leaving for Los Angeles. This shirt carries his name and number 8, in the official Premier League font. It is also the last season Warrior outfitted the club — the brand handed over to New Balance the following summer. Two endings on the same shirt.

The shirt

Plain red, V-neck, white trim along the shoulders and flanks, Liver Bird embroidered in yellow, Standard Chartered sponsor in white. The fabric is not smooth: it carries a tonal jacquard print — a network of geometric shapes woven into the material, clearly visible in raking light in photos 3, 6 and 7. At the nape, the shirt carries the 96 memorial: two eternal flames flanking the figure, in tribute to the victims of Hillsborough.

• The Premier League lion built into the digit (photo 5), a detail of the league's official font of that era.
• The jacquard woven into the material rather than printed on the surface: the motif is visible from the reverse too.
• The 96 memorial at the nape and the Warrior neck label reading “ARMED & UNSTOPPABLE”, both specific to the period.

Condition — 8.5/10, in detail

What is worn:

• the Standard Chartered sponsor: the white print is run through with fine cracks, more pronounced on the chevron logo than on the lettering (photos 6 and 7). It adheres well to the fabric, but the surface is no longer smooth;
• the white collar trim: an applied transfer, which on this example has fragmented along part of its run, with pieces missing (photos 8 and 9). We flag it explicitly because the workshop record mentioned only the sponsor.

What is intact: the GERRARD 8 lettering, with no cracking or lifting, including the Premier League lion; the Liver Bird embroidery; the embroidered Warrior logo; the red of the fabric, strong and unfaded; collar and seams, undeformed; no holes or stains.

What does the “96” at the nape stand for?
It is the Hillsborough memorial, carried on Liverpool shirts in tribute to the supporters who died in the 1989 disaster. The two flames flanking it echo those of the Anfield memorial.

Will the cracking get worse?
It progresses with heat and friction. Wash at 30°C inside out, air dry, never iron the markings: under those conditions the condition holds.

Is Warrior a genuine kit brand?
Yes. Warrior Sports outfitted Liverpool from 2012 to 2015, before New Balance — same group — took over the contract. A Warrior shirt therefore necessarily dates from those three seasons.

Why is the number 8 so sought after?
Because it is inseparable from Gerrard, and 2014-2015 was his final season at the club. It is the last league shirt to carry his name at Liverpool.
