Shirt condition
Excellent condition
Both blues of the stripes are crisp, the white polo collar is clean and holds its shape, and the three white shoulder stripes have not yellowed. The embroidered cockerel keeps its gold, and the HENRY 12 printing on the back as well as the chest 12 are complete with no cracking. I found no stain, snag or pilling.

Workshop note — The 07/08 date falls just after Euro 2008: this is the launch production of the model that replaced the Euro shirt for the 2008-2009 season. Code 686874 matches the home version of this generation, and the gold cockerel topped by a single star is true to the era.
Thierry Henry, Les Bleus' number 12
Henry wore the 12 for France from the 1998 World Cup, which he won aged 20. Euro 2000 and the 2003 Confederations Cup followed, then a World Cup final in 2006.
This shirt covers the qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup, which ended with a play-off against Ireland. After a 1-0 win in Dublin, France qualified in the return leg at the Stade de France.
18 November 2009, Saint-Denis. In extra time, Henry controlled the ball with his hand before setting up William Gallas, who made it 1-1. The goal sent France to South Africa and made headlines around the world.
Henry left the national team after the 2010 World Cup with 123 caps and 51 goals, a national record until Olivier Giroud overtook him in December 2022.
Frequently asked questions
Why only one star above the cockerel?
It celebrates the 1998 title. In 2009, France had only one World Cup; the second star only appeared after the 2018 triumph.
Was this shirt worn at the 2010 World Cup?
No: it covers the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, including the whole qualifying campaign. For the tournament in South Africa, adidas released a new model.
How can I check the shirt is authentic?
Look at the small inner tag: date 07/08 and code 686874. Then check the gold embroidery of the cockerel and the stripes woven into the knit.
How does this L fit?
True to size: 53 cm pit to pit and 78 cm long. It will suit a classic L, or an M who likes to wear it a little loose.
